Weleda Ratanhia Mouthwash

I like a fresh, clean mouth as much as the next person, but I’d like a gentler approach than the 1-2 punch I get from the name brand mouthwash I use.  I’d also like a mouthwash that comes in a bottle small enough to pass through airport security.  That’s why I’ve switched to Weleda’s Ratanhia mouthwash.

This concentrated natural formula is both refreshing and entirely portable.  All I need to do is add about five drops to a small glass of water (about ¼ of a juice glass), shake the glass to mix, and then rinse and gargle for a couple of minutes.  The 1.7 ounce bottle is about the same size a prescription bottle from my pharmacy, so it’s easy to toss into my purse.

I love Weleda’s Ratanhia mouthwash because it’s effective, but in a subtle way.  It doesn’t burn or sting, and it leaves my mouth feeling clean but not stripped or scented. The concentrate contains natural and organic plant extracts, such as myrrh, an herbal disinfectant, and horse chestnut bark, which has antiseptic properties, as well as sage, clove, peppermint, and eucalyptus.  According to Weleda, the ratanhia plant comes from the Andes mountains and is used in Peru and Bolivia for dental care because it eases inflammation and infection in the gums.

I'm really enjoying the tiny size of this mouthwash. I can keep it in my medicine cabinet, and it lasts a long time. I've been using mine for more than a month and have plenty left. I think it will last longer than several bottles of my old brand, so in the long run, it's actually less expensive.
