Weleda Citrus Deodorant

I've been using Weleda’s Citrus Deodorant for about a month now, and I’ve never smelled better! 

I gave up on the usual drugstore brands of deodorant and antiperspirant many years ago because I have very sensitive skin; every brand I tried seemed to irritate my underarms.  Still, my pits can get seriously stinky; I need a product that’s effective. Weleda’s Citrus Deodorant has done a great job of keeping me presentable. 

This natural deodorant spray is ideal for me because it’s made out of essential oils, including lemon and orange, that neutralize bacteria.  I love the spray mist application; it’s quite refreshing.  I give myself a few squirts after a shower, and I’m good to go.  Because this product does not prevent perspiration (and I wouldn’t want it to), I still sweat; I just don’t smell.  It’s not as long-lasting as some popular drugstore brands because it doesn’t contain chemicals, so I sometimes reapply at the  end of day if I’m going to go out at night.   It’s easy to apply, and it dries quickly.  Better still, it never leaves any white marks or stains on my clothing because it’s completely clear.  (I also use the Weleda Citrus Deodorant after applying a “crystal” style deodorant, and the combo has been very effective at preventing smell.)

I’m extremely sensitive to chemicals and synthetic fragrances–like plastic bubble type of sensitive—so if I can use a product without any breathing or skin issues flaring up, I know I’ve found something truly natural.  I love the fresh, clean smell and feel of this essential oil-based deodorant spray.

Eco Creds: Free from phthalates, propellants, and synthetic fragrance and preservatives.  Not tested on animals.  Does not contain antiperspirants, such as aluminium salts.

The only bummer--this deodorant comes in a 3.4 ounce bottle, so it's just over the limit for a carry-on bag.

Bottom Line: I’m completely sold on this elegant deodorant spray. It’s not harmful to me or to the environment.  It’s effective.  And I love the subtle, crisp, NATURAL citrus scent.—E.D. (June 2011)
