US Canteen : Eco Fancy

Just because I've always chosen to live in smaller cities like Minneapolis and Seattle doesn't mean I couldn't cut it style wise in the big city (I mean New York, of course).

I'm committed to eschewing plastic bottles and carrying my daily water supply in an eco-friendly, reusable bottle. Still, it's not all about eco for me.....I find it refreshing to have a water bottle that's different from all the rest. Cooler. Fancier. Sexier.

My US Canteen bottle is, as its name implies, actually a canteen. It looks like a large flask, and holds almost 25 ounces of liquid. I love its sleek design and retro style; it's slightly curved so it's easy to hold. I also really love that it's made out of medical-grade stainless steel. Some day, one of my great-, great- surrogate grandchildren may want my canteen -- or may recycle it into a another useful or fancy product.

Functionally, I like that the opening is the size of a typical water bottle - I can sip, drink, or gulp without spilling. It's also a bonus that the lid is attached to the bottle by a short chain so I can leave the top lying around somewhere. What else.....it doesn't leak, that's important. My water tastes like water -- no icky aftertaste that I used to get with the cheap plastic cycling water bottles I used before I discovered stainless steel bottles.

I can personalize my fancy canteen with a variety of carriers. My favorite is the Como case. It's classic army style, but all spiffed up with sturdy snaps and rings, a shoulder strap, a cell phone pocket, and a tiny hidden zippered pocket on the back for my credit card and I.D. I like the tough canvas material--so street!

The Como case comes in natural, black, and orange. The canteen is available in polished or brushed stainless steel.

Obviously, such a fancy canteen is appropriate for men and women, with carriers to fit every style.
