Urge To Adorn Belt Buckle
I never really thought about Urge To Adorn's name until I sat down to write this review. I was thinking about why I liked my Japanese Goldfish Belt Buckle and I realized that it's because it makes me want to take the time to look good. I'm a simple guy; I don't accessorize. A belt is a belt. As long as it holds up my pants I'm happy. Yet, I find myself reaching for this fancy buckle when I'm getting dressed for evenings out and even for work. It's stylish, it's unique, and it's functional. Urge to Adorn's Japanese Goldfish Belt Buckle features an image of two goldfish superimposed over Japanese characters on an off-white paper; it looks really sharp with a black belt. I've been surprised at how many compliments I've received on it. I've also been impressed that after months of wear, the buckle still looks new. I'm hard on my clothes, so it's nice that I don't have to sacrifice durability for fashion. Urge to Adorn makes their buckles with vintage and retro paper prints that they cover with many layers of non-toxic coatings until the images have a smooth, glossy feel (but aren't shiny). Buckles are available in rectangular and oval shapes, and in dozens of designs. In fact, Urge to Adorn has nine different categories of buckle designs, including Animal Kingdom; Asian Art; Buddhas, Saints, and Queens; Flowers; Insects; and vintage-style Old West. They also sell leather and eco-friendly rubber belts. I also really like the Urge to Adorn leather belt I tested with the buckle. It's nice and simple, with no top stitching or imprints, so the buckle really stands out. The belt is 1.5 inches wide, like most belts I wear, so it fits easily through the belt loops of all of my pants. It's held up well to use, and has softened with time. So far, it's still uniform in shape along the length of the belt (i.e., stress points haven't worn their way into the leather yet). Belts are available in black or brown, and in black rubber. Eco Creds: Buckle made out of lead-free pewter in the USA. Rubber belts made out of used tires. Bottom Line: I don't want to commit to caring about fashion, but I think I'm starting to understand why my girlfriend likes her scarves and earrings. It's kind of fun to wear a small adornment to dress up my everyday look! --B.M. (Feb 2011) BUY ONLINE: $73, click to shop. Manufacturer's Site: www.urgetoadorn.com |
