Kate's Tram Bar: Organic Nutrition in a Meal Replacement Bar

I'm not a breakfast person; I just don't feel hungry until I've been up for a few hours. By that time, I'm deep into my day, whether it's work or play. So I end up eating a lot of nutrition bars because they're easy to stash in my pack or in my desk drawer. Kate's Tram Bar is currently one of my favs!

The Tram Bar is nice and thick, and chock-full of nutritious organic ingredients such as peanut butter, oats, milk chocolate chunks, raisins, and other dried fruit (apricots, bananas). It's a dense bar that still stays chewy, and it has just enough rice nuggets thrown into the mix to satisfy my need for crunchiness. I like the various textures; I can actually distinguish between the various ingredients as I chew!

Too many nutrition bars are tough to chew or taste chalky, but the Tram Bar is soft enough to break into smaller pieces without crumbling. Best of all, the bar tastes like food, not like a candy bar. The Tram Bar doesn't taste too sugary either, but sweet like honey. I like that the bar also contains sunflower and sesame seeds; I get a good balance of healthy protein and fat.

At 360 calories, the Tram is perfect as a meal replacement bar or as an energy-boosting snack when I'm hiking. (An actual serving size is 1/2 of a bar.)
