To-Go Ware Action Pack : Fancy Food Storage for Home, Campground, or On the Road

For me, a true eco product is something highly functional that's durable enough to have a very long life. To-Go Ware stainless steel food containers fit the bill perfectly.

I used the To-Go Ware two-tier Action Pack on a recent 10-day road trip, and it was a real treat. I like to eat healthly food even when I'm on the road, so I made a gigantic batch of organic red quinoa salad to take with us. Lucky for me, each of the stacking tins of To-Go Ware's stainless steel tiffin set holds about six cups of food. So, we had plenty of high-protein salad for our three-day drive from Seattle to Salt Lake City.

It just seems healthier to me to store my food in stainless steel containers rather than plastic tubs. It's also totally more eco because I'm not using a disposable plastic container (or a recyclable container that would use energy to be recycled) and I can reuse the tiffin as many times as i want. (I'm the happy owner of my grandmother's stainless steel pots, whic are more than 50 years old.)

I can even use the containers to boil water or for cooking. It's really a very handy set, with so many uses for car trips, camping, and even home food storage. I'm so over those plastic food storage tubs--I use my To-Go Ware kit most nights of the week to store leftovers.

I love the design of the To-Go Ware Action Pack. The top container rests on the bottom container and has a lid with a fold-flat handle for easy storage. One set of clamps holds the tins together; another set holds the lid to the top container. The kit fits easily into a deep cotton carrying tote that has an adjustable shoulder strap. The tote is made out of cotton scraps that are dyed using a natural process and has a side pocket that holds a set of bamboo utensils. Sweet.

The Action Pack also comes with a "sidekick," a small stainless steel container that's ideal for storing dressing, spices, or nuts. To-Go Ware makes a variety of container styles and sizes.

Bottom Line: I love my To-Go Ware stainless steel containers kit. It has so many uses, and it's been ideal for transporting food to dinner parties. The clamps holds the kit together well, so I never spill my salad! This would be a fantastic housewarming gift for the person (or couple) who has everything.--E.D. (August '10)
