Tank by Christine Chaney

I was searching for a new look for summer, something swirly and girly but still cool and casual. I found exactly the sweet style I wanted in a repurposed tank by Seattle clothing designer Christine Chaney. 

Made out of pre-loved men's size XXL T-shirts, Chaney's fun cotton Tanks are feminine without being fussy. I wear tested a grey/heather grey Tank from her resconstrucTEES line, which suits my grey-black wardrobe perfectly, but the tanks also come in a variety of colors, both bright and subdued.

I love the style of this tank. It's snug through the bodice and has a drapey, elegant neckline. The bottom part of the Tank flares out just enough to give the top some movement. The twisted straps are a cute touch, and I like the Tank's wide open back. I also really like the gathers in the back of the top, just under the bodice.

I have to admit that when I first saw the tank I thought it looked fabulous, but I didn't think it would look good on me. I thought I was too tall and too top-heavy to pull it off. I was lucky enough to be standing in Chaney's workshop when I had those thoughts, so she handed me several to try on. Who knew? It looks great on me.

It's actually hard to classify this lovely Tank because it's fun, it's elegant, and it's comfortable. Best of all, because it's made from old T-shirts, it's easy to care for. I can toss it in the wash and never worry about it. TheTtank is superbly designed--the entire bottom of the top is part of a T-shirt (no seams!)--and very well made. My fancy new Tank is also original! Because they're made out of old T-shirts, no two are the same!
