Smartwool's "The Tight" : Never Wear Nylons Again
I realized about ten minutes into my first "real" job after college that I would either never make it in the corporate world or I would have to find a way to look very fancy in just a top and pants. Nylons suck. I hate them. They're the reason I gave up on corporate America and worked for non-profit orgs at the beginning of my "career." But now, I've found a perfectly acceptable solution for keeping my legs covered in cold weather and still wearing a skirt: The Tight by Smartwool. Yes, I should have posted this a few months ago when it was freezing. Sorry. But here's what: I'm still wearing them even though we're having 50 and 60 degree temps (for example: today is rainy and cold and nothing like spring). Because The Tight is made out of wool (with some nylon for stretch), it breathes and helps me stay cool. When it's cold, it helps me stay warm. Also, The Tight is super durable - I've been wearing it plenty and no signs of my toes blowing through the ends. I love that the tight ends in a proper sock, with heel cup, a hugging band around the arch of the foot to keep the sock part in place, and seamless toe. Also nice - wool is naturally odor-resistant, so I never have to wash my tight. Extra bonus: The Tight is available in a lovely deep shade of purple. They call it "Deep Purple"; I call it aubergine. It looks perfect with my dark grey Sanitas Skirt. Eco Creds: wool is a renewable resource. Bottom Line: Tights are icky. The Tight, made out of soft, breathable merino wool, is lovely. --E.D.
