Smartwool PhD Outdoor Light Micro Socks : Step Light, Step Right

I love these socks. In fact, I'm crazy about them. They're nice and padded in the forefoot and heel (and because they're 73% wool, I can still feel the padding after I've been on my feet for a few hours), they have strategically placed contoured panels that help the socks hug my feet so that I never ever experience any slipping or movement, and best of all, I can wear them again and again before washing. Thanks again to their mostly wool makeup, these socks wick and breathe like nobody's business and they're naturally odor-resistant.

These socks are so comfortable. I can't feel anything except the lovely padding with each step. I love shorty socks, but have never had a pair that didn't slip down the back of my shoe. Mile after mile, my PhD socks have not slipped once. Love that. I wear them every day, then toss them on the floor after my hikes and power walks. The next day, I unwad them and wear them again. Same the next day. They take a beating, and never smell.

So, I save water and electricity by not having to wash them often. Plus, they'll last longer (I never put them in the dryer because after coming out of my super efficient front loading machine, they're practically dry and just need a little time on my wooden rack.)

Another thing I like about these socks - I get the padding where I need it without bulk, as well as the snug fit of a thinner sock, which I need because I have pretty wide feet.
