Skoy Cloth : Better Than Paper Towels

I'm trying to wean myself off of paper towels and napkins, but they are just so convenient to use that I just haven't bothered yet.

That is...until I met Skoy! I was given a Skoy cloth to try in place of using paper towels, and although I still have to catch myself as I reach for a paper towel sometimes, I'm finding that I use the Skoy cloth more often. I also enjoy using it because I feel better about my choice.

Skoy clothes are made of natural cotton and wood-based cellulose pulp. Each cloth is 100% biodegradable, extremely absorbent, and can be re-used for about two months. I first tried the Skoy cloth to wipe down my kitchen counters and dining table. I sprayed the counters and table with a multi-purpose spray cleaner, wet the Skoy cloth, wrung it out, and then used it to wipe down the surfaces. It cleaned just as well as a paper towel would, but it didn't leave the lint from a paper towel that I see after wiping down windows or dark colored surfaces. And it doesn't leave streaks! That is nice!

I then rinsed it out, wrung it dry, and hung it on the dish rack until I needed it again. I have since been using it to clean windows, as well as to wipe down wood furniture. When I rinse it out with water and wring it out, the cleaning products come right out and it's ready to use again as if it were a new paper towel.

If you're trying to cut back on paper towel use, I would highly recommend the Skoy cloth. You will feel much better reaching for it instead of another paper towel. They come in a variety of cute designs and colors that brighten up my kitchen. Mine has a cute blue snowflake design on it.

I still save paper towels for cleaning really gross things, but for everything else, I use a Skoy!

Editor's Note : I've been using Skoy cloths, too, and love them. I keep one in the bathroom for cleaning my mirror and wiping down my metal cabinet. I keep another one in my bedroom for dusting and cleaning up spills (I always end up working in bed, then leaving half-empty cups of tea or water around--which I knock over the next day). I also use a Skoy in the kitchen for spills and wiping the counters and cabinets. I love these thin, reusable little cloths.

Bottom Line: We are big fans of this fun eco solution to wasting paper. Why not get a pack for a friend and see how many people we can get to stop using paper towels!--N.S. and E.D. (Jan 10)
