Preserve Toothbrush : Brush Regularly

Since trying this eco toothbrush, there's no need to take the free one from the dentist anymore.

My new Preserve toothbrush scores points with its curved design and bright color scheme. I like the compact brush and angled head--they make it easy to reach those "hard to reach" back teeth and gums.   I like that my entire mouth isn't filled with brush, bristles, or plastic when using this toothbrush.    

When it comes to changing out toothbrushes regularly, Recycline gets behind recycling their brushes and closing the circle.   First, their brushes are manufactured out of recycled plastic, including discarded yogurt cups (check out the partnership between Recycline and StoneyField Farm).   Second, when I'm done with the brush it can be returned using a postage-paid mailer (one that's ordered from the recycline web site or that I can pick up at a participating retailer) to be recycled again. In addition to those thoughtful practices, the plastic packaging the brush comes in can be used as a reusable case for travel.

Recycline makes a variety of styles, including soft bristle, ultra-soft bristle, medium bristle, and children's toothbrushes. Sold individually and in bulk packages.

(Editor's note: I've been using this toothbrush, too, and I love it. I was skeptical about the curved design, but the handle is stiff--as it should be for good ergonomics. The curve helps me reach my back teeth, and the firm handle means I don't have to apply extra pressure to actually keep the brush in place. Nice.)

Bottom Line: All in all, this product and company have won me over. Through their efforts in building sustainable partnerships, to closing the loop of the manufacturing process, to viewing the world with its finite resources, this is a model way to create products, toothbrushes included, in the 21 st century.--H.H.
