Posh top by Toggery : A Fancy Tee That Flows Free

Sometimes I have a hard time with what some people consider fashion. I have an even harder time with what people consider "feminine." In my book, you can wear men's jeans and dirty boots or a short skirt or a frilly top and feel femine...and be feminine. You just make it yours, and don't let anyone tell you different.
So, when my organic cotton Posh top from Toggery arrived, I felt a bit conflicted. It was just a basic scoop neck top, with some gathering in the front, little cap sleeves -- it was very cute. I tried it on, it fit great. It was loose and comfy and got looser and comfier as it hung past my hips. It's like a t-shirt version of a cross between a baby doll top and a peasant top. Not hippy or girly--but hot. I looked good. And that's when the conflict started.
I looked in the mirror and the only word I could think of to describe it was "feminine." But I am a men's jeans and dirty boots feminine. I am so against labeling clothes as "feminine." It's wrong wrong wrong. So, I dismissed the review for weeks. It gnawed at me, so I put the top away. Then I wore the top again. Then I washed it. Put it away. And so on.
Then yesterday, after having spent six days in bed being sicker than the sickest dog, I showered, put on my hot black Toggery top, and went off to the doctor. I also paired it with some sweet organic denim jeans. I felt really cute having spent a week in a bathrobe. Anyway, long story short, on the drive home I finally found the right adjective that would perfectly describe this shirt and meet with my gender neutral standards -- Posh. Why didn't I think of it before?
Bottom Line : If you're tired of the same old tees, break out of your rut with this fancy remake on a classic style. You'll love the super soft organic cotton. Available in several colors, unless, like me, the only color for you is black because black is hot.--E.D. (Dec 08)
