Om Girl Velour Pants :
"Ooooo, Heaven is a Place on Earth."
If you were born in the eighties, you may be too young to appreciate how lovely velour is. Or you might think that velour is that icky polyester stuff of which bad tracksuits are made. And that would be too bad for you. Real velour is cotton.
I spent most of the 70s in this lusciously soft, thick, yummy fabric. I bought velour tops at the Gap, my mother bought yards and yards of velour in a rainbow of colors and made me some darn fancy tops in a variety of designs. Then I graduated from high school, and velour dropped out of site. (Or at least out of my site.)
Now it's back, and better than ever--because now it's available in organic. Om Girl's Organic Velour lounge pants are my new heaven. They're low cut (but not immodest), with an extra long inseam (I'm a 34" inseam, and these pants are too long for me--but I also tested a size L, and I'm usually a M), a drawstring waist, and plenty of pockets (two front, one back, and two cargo).
I love these pants because they're so cozy and drape-y. I can wear them as warm-up pants for yoga or exercise class, or just to lounge around the house. I like that they're a bit too long -- makes me feel regal, like my fancy pant legs are trailing behind me like an ermine cape. I also appreciate the very discreet logo, the "om" symbol, embroidered above one of the front pockets.
I also love just rubbing my hands on my thighs as I lounge around watching movies. The material is so soothing -- I wish the pants were inside out. I also think that I'm going to buy a sewing machine and make tons of little velour stuffed animals to give to my friends.
These pants are available in a variety of lush colors and in sizes from S-L. They're pre-shrunk, so no worries about using the dryer. Although, it's better for the planet if you hang dry. (They're also available in a non organic cotton-poly blend.)
Bottom Line: Who wouldn't want these lovely pants, especially with fall not so far around the corner. --E.D. (August 08)
