New Balance NBx Cocona Top : A Natural Fit

I've been building up my running tee collection lately, so I'm only willing to stuff one more top into my already overstuffed drawer of running goodies if it brings something new to the table. The New Balance Cocona Tee does just that.

The Cocona is available in men's and women's sizes, as well as sleeve styles (s/s, l/s, singlet). Made of special fabric made out of coconuts, this tee has natural anti-odor qualities so it doesn't stink after repeated wears (yes, I hang up my shirts to "air out," then wear them a few more times before I get them into a washing machine.)   Since the Cocona has natural origins, I don't have to worry about any negative long term affects of the chemicals found in other anti-odor garments. The coconut fabric also gives the tee natural wicking and temperature regulation qualities, as well as UV protection.

I like that this shirt (in my case, the women's Cocona) has a fitted body without being tight. It's "feminine" without constricting or riding up. It hangs nicely just below the waistband of my shorts, and I never have to pull on it or adjust it mid run to keep myself covered. I really appreciate the torso length and the generously cut raglan style sleeves. No chafing at the shoulders, freedom of movement, and a custom fit.

Fit and function aside, what I really love are the details that make this shirt unique.   It has a small pocket in front of the left shoulder where I can stash my iPod, key, or post-run latte money. (The Cocona also has thumb loops, which I have come to consider essential in my workout gear.) My Cocona tee is a beautiful lavender color. Soft but not girly.
