Navitas Naturals Cacao Sweet Nibs

For years I was in a chocolate conundrum, addicted to dark chocolate but essentially a vegan. Then I discovered Organic Sweet Raw Cacao Nibs by Navitas Naturals, and now I can have my favorite treat and follow my nutritional guidelines.

I've been gobbling up these delicious nibs by the handful as a snack food for weeks, not feeling guilty at all because they're raw, vegan, organic, and kosher. Navitas Naturals suggests using the Organic Sweet Raw Cacao Nibs for smoothies and as a topping for cereal, yogurt, ice cream, and oatmeal. I recently used them in some multi-grain banana pancakes, which I topped with organic crunchy peanut butter---YUM!!! The nibs are sturdier than chocolate chips so they don't really melt in a pancake, adding both the flavor I want and some texture.

Navitas Naturals also refers to the Organic Sweet Raw Cacao Nibs as a "Mayan Superfood," which makes me want to eat them ever more. Cacao was the food of the Mayan gods, so it must be good for us mortals, too! Raw cacao contains magnesium, as well as polyphenols (chemicals found in plants with antioxidant properties).

The chocolate taste is so pure and natural. For me it's really better than a chocolate bar because it doesn't have all the extra ingredients that add fat and sugar. The Organic Sweet Raw Cacao Nibs are plenty sweet, though, because they contain organic cane juice. I didn't know that until I read the package when I sat down to write this. Since I'm also trying to eliminate sugar from my diet, I'm glad that Navitas Naturals also makes Raw Cacao Power Nibs (i.e., nothing added).
