Nau Men's Twill Cargo Pant
This summer I've been climbing, hiking, enjoying town life, and climbing more. The long granite routes, the boulder problems, the endless hours spent with friends in the evenings -- it all can put a lot of stress on any pant. But the indestructible organic cotton-Spandex blend of my Nau Twill Cargo pants is holding up quite well. I'm that jerk who's always at the front of the line steaming into the woods. I like to get a head start --not to beat my buddies but to beat the weather (it rains like clockwork here every afternoon). However, doing so usually gets me hot and sweaty. Thanks to Nau's organic cotton, I've remained cool and comfy on my approaches. There's a high alpine basin here in Rocky Mountain National Park (one of the premiere bouldering areas in the U.S.), to which I'm a frequent visitor. My Nau Twill Cargo Pant is also now a frequent visitor. The hour-long hike can be pretty steep in places, but my new pants have articulated knees the material moves with my legs. No chafing! Once in the basin, getting from boulder to boulder requires a lot of scrambling, but the articulated knees, Spandex stretch, and gusseted crotch combine to give me the freedom of movement I need to remain sure-footed and steady. Back in town, I've discovered that these Nau pants have the best pockets of any pants I've owned. The rear pockets are sewn into the seat (which means there is no fabric pocket dangling inside the pant). The result? No bunched up pockets when I sit down. The front pockets are deep and easy to reach into, but it's the cargo pockets above the knees are the real hit. They're zippered, but the zipper is at an angle -- which means I don't have to twist my pant leg around to get inside. They also sit in just the right place so I don't not getting stabbed by my car keys with every high step I make while climbing. Score! I have to say (as I've said in other reviews) how much I admire Nau. It's undoubtedly one of my favorite companies in the world. Two percent of every sale goes to an organization that promotes positive social or environmental change, employees are paid fair wages, and the entire design and production process is aimed at making the garments as sustainable as possible. Kudos to Nau. Available in soot (dark gray), twig (dark khaki), and mushroom (light gray-green). Bottom Line: Comfy, uber-stylish, multi-purpose outdoor pant made by some of the coolest cats in the industry.--N.W. (Aug.
