Nau Awry Polo Shirt : Take it Out Some Time

I hate networking events and happy hours and even Green Drinks. I just find it impossible to walk up to a group of people and inject myself into the conversation.

Unless, one of those people is wearing something made by Nau. I can always spot a Nau top or jacket because the design is so clean, the buttons are arranged in a unique way, the material is so natural and soft. And I can always count on someone wearing such a garment to talk to me when I walk up and grab their sleeve, reciting the name of the garment.

At a recent event I was saved first by a woman wearing the Twilight Jacket (sadly, no longer available) and later by a man wearing the Polotariat shirt. I was wearing my Trous Her jeans and a discontinued Nau t-shirt from a few years ago, but that didn't stop me from telling them about one of my favorite Nau shirts -- the women's Awry Polo.

It's made out of superbly soft organic cotton, and buttons down the front. But this top has nothing in common with any button-down top I've ever owned. First, the buttons are attached in pairs, with three or four inches of space in between. The sleeves have an unfinished look just above the well-made cuffs, and that same unfinished edging is used on the collar as well. I love it. I had no idea you could make a blouse out of super thin t-shirt material and have it look so nice and fit so well.

On each side of the shirt there's an extra panel of material that starts at the bottom back hem, wraps over the shoulder, and then gently tapers away around the bust line. I think this style gives the shirt it's drape; it also gives me a bit more space in the chest (which I need.)

The Awry Polo is one of those shirts that I should wear every day, but I save it for "dress up" occasions because it's so beautiful.
