Levi's Women's eco Skinny Jean : Denim A Gal Can Trust

My addiction to organic designer denim was getting to be a problem. Jeans have become incredibly expensive! Not that it's not worth every penny when I find a pair that fits great and looks HOT... but it's nice to have some options more in line with my budget. That's where I can turn to my trusty Levi's.

Their women's eco Skinny Jean, part of their eco line made out of organic denim, is everything I want in a jean (and nothing more). I love this pair of jeans for the same reason I've always worn Levi's -their simple, classic style is always in fashion. They look good with everything. More important, they always fit me well.

Because I'm tall and have long legs, I really appreciate the low-rise cut on these pants (which I think is plenty modest -- or maybe I'm just so used to wearing low-rise pants that I don't notice anymore), which is infinitely more comfortable than so many other women's pants. Jeans just feel better at my hips. I also love that this jean comes in different lengths: 30, 32, and 34. I tested a size 10 Long, which has a 34" inseam. They fit perfectly, and look super sweet with my favorite boots and sandals.

The Levi's eco Skinny Jean is definitely slim-fitting, as its "skinny" label implies, but once I'm dressed and up and about the tiny 1% of Lycra really kicks in. Even though I'm carrying some extra weight, I don't have to wrestle with the jeans to get into them. Nice. They fit very nicely through the hips and thighs, and I love the slim, tapered straight leg cut.

Sometimes skinny jeans get on my nerves because they can be binding but my Levi's eco Skinny 531 Jeans are always comfortable. There's enough give in the fabric that I can shimmy and shake when I want to but not so much that they get stretched out with just one wear (I'm a big fan of wearing jeans as many times as I can get away with in between washings).

Levi's makes a variety of jeans for women and men in different rises, lengths, leg styles (straight, bootcut, etc.) and washes.

Bottom Line: I heart these sassy, skinny jeans. Levi's has done a lovely job with the design and fit! Plus, they're a bargain at a fraction of what other designers are charging for denim.--E.D. (May '10)
