Lavera Mango Milk Shampoo

Having recently added highlights to my hair, I was looking for a color-safe shampoo that would prevent fading and that would moisturize my dry hair at the same time. I came across Lavera Hair Mango Milk Shampoo for colored hair and color protection.

What I noticed instantly about this shampoo is its wonderful mango scent. It really smells natural instead of smelling like a chemical-laden mango. It's light and fresh and not overpowering at all. The next thing I noticed about this shampoo is its texture. When I squeeze it into my hand, the liquid actually feels soft and rich.

I have long hair and needed to use a slightly larger dollop of the Lavera shampoo than most people would need to use with shoulder length or short hair. One thing I noticed is that the shampoo doesn't create a lot of lather that sits on top of my hair, but rather seems to work itself into the hair as I rub it around. That's exactly what you want with a shampoo that provides moisture and anti-fading benefits.

The shampoo contains pro-vitamin B5, which coats the hair to seal in moisture, and wheat protein, which helps improve elasticity and tone. The organic mango and green tea extracts are the ingredients that provide antioxidants and help prevent fading. Once lathered into my hair, it feels so soft and rich on my head that I always want to leave it on a little longer than regular shampoo. Once it's rinsed out and my hair is dry, the Lavera Mango Milk left my color-treated hair feeling a bit softer.

Bottom Line: Lavera is a German brand and one of my favorites for its natural skin and body products.  I’ve spent a lot of time in Europe over the years and have found some amazing products there for hair, body, and skin.  Lavera seems to really understand how to make natural products that really work. Plus, I love that they include the German names on the bottle.  Who wouldn’t want to use “mangomilch-shampoo”?—N.S. (June 2011)
