Kids Konserve Snak Pak : Grown Ups Like It, Too

I'm obsessed with finding ways to eliminate plastic and waste from my life, especially from my kitchen. I'm also always on the lookout for containers I can use for food storage and for packed lunches. Thanks to Kids Konserve, I've found an eco-friendly way to accomplish all of these goals.

I've been using a Kids Konserve Snak Pak for a couple of weeks, and I love it. The kit contains an eight-ounce stainless steel food container, which just happens to be exactly the right size to hold a full-serving of food and about the amount of leftovers I usually have; a Food Kozy, a reusable sandwich wrap; and a heavy canvas napkin; all packed into a roomy cotton drawstring sack. All of the items are well-made, durable, and colorful.

The container is made out of 18/8 food grade stainless steel; I'll have this for decades! I prefer using stainless steel because it's attractive, easy to clean, and a safe material to store food in since it doesn't absorb food odors or leach chemicals into food like some plastic wraps can.

The container lids and the Food Kozy are made out of recycled, recyclable PE plastic that's non-toxic, non-leaching, and BPA- and phthalate-free. The lids are easy to attach to the containers, and they form a good seal. Even on days that my lunch bounces around in my day pack for a few hours, the lid stays on the container. It's also easy to remove. If I lose the lid, or more likely--leave it on my stove and accidentally melt it--Kids Conserve sells replacements lids, as well as three sizes of containers.

The Food Kozy is an ingenious replacement for waxed paper, aluminum foil, and sandwich bags. It's also much easier to use that any of these items because it folds easily over a sandwich, or a stack of cheese and crackers, and seals with a Velcro-like enclosure. The Kozy is built to last for years, and it's simple to clean. Even peanut butter wipes off with a damp cloth.

Finally, I really like the fun, bold colors and patterns on the recycled cotton napkin and sack. I'm not an organized person, but I love having a color-coordinated lunch kit. I'm finding that I spend more time preparing my food, as well as taking more time to enjoy my meals, because I like using my Snak Pak. Of course, the napkin and sack are printed with plant-based dyes. Having a napkin is so handy. I would never think to bring one if Kids Konserve hadn't included it. I like to use it as a little table cloth when I eat outside to make my space seem a little fancier! And greener!

Kids Konserve sells all of the items in this kit separately so you can mix and match, as well as replace lost items. They also make a Waste-Not Lunch kit, which contains the same items as the Snak Pak, plus a stainless steel water bottle and an additional food container.
