Organic by John Patrick Roll Edge Racerback Tank : Fly Away Softness

I completely heart John Patrick, the fancy eco fashion designer pictured at left. He's on my short list of favorite designers because I love the wispy thin organic cotton he uses for his gorgeous tanks and scarves. I'm also a fan because you don't have to be a size 2 to look good in this clothes.

When Organics by John Patrick first sent us a garment to review, I was crushed because it was a size small, too tiny for my 6' tall frame. I need not have worried because later, I received a tank made out of the same luxuriously thin and soft organic cotton in a size L. The racer back-style Roll Edge Tank was every bit as beautiful as the Boy Tank I'd passed on to my small tester, with its own set of charms.

I loved the way the knit cotton was cut on the bias and had a slightly baggy fit. It was a stellar design that worked really well with the super drapy cotton. Rather than finish the seams around the arm holes and neck with trim, they left one edge unattached, which curls up towards the holes and gives the top a messy, unfinished look. LOVE it.

I've worn this tank almost every day since I received it. Initially, I wore it under a cotton work shirt or thin sweater, waiting desperately for spring to arrive so I could show it off to the world. I love that it's loose and completely comfortable and super stylish. It's as if they wove some fanciness right into the fabric because this tank feels so wonderful to wear. The material is ultra soft on my skin; sheer but not see-through; and from day one feels like my favorite already-lived-in tees.

BOTTOM LINE: I love Organic by John Patrick as a brand, and this sweet tank is the most relaxed, elegant, fun top I have for summer. Bring on the heat!.--E.D. (April 2010)
