Jason Sunbrellas® Facial Block SPF 20 UVA & UVB Protection : Effective, Moisturizing, Long Lasting
After seeing some photos of celebrities with horrible sun spots in the weekly tabloids years ago, I decided then and there that I was always going to wear some form of sunscreen on my face. I started out with a foundation that contained SPF. Then I realized that I didn't cover my entire face and neck with a layer of foundation. I only used it "where needed," which left the rest of my face and neck exposed. So I switched to a sunscreen lotion base and applied foundation over that; it's turned out to be a great solution for me. One problem with sunscreen: I have an oily T-zone, so I have to choose my facial sunscreen carefully. I have two options - face cream or lotion containing sunscreen or sunscreen lotion meant for the face. I've tried several different products and after using Jason Sunbrellas® Facial Block SPF20 UVA & UVB Protection, I would definitely recommend it. I think people with dry skin or have oily skin in the t-zone who spend a lot of time outside in the sun during summer months will appreciate this thick lotion. I specify this last comment because this product is a sunscreen lotion meant for the face, so it is a bit thicker and has a heavier feeling than the face creams or lotions with added SPF. In the winter months, I would probably use a lighter feeling face cream with SPF in it. Also, the JASON Facial Sun block smells like suntan lotion, although come to think of it, that might be a nice perk in the dreary winter months! I first used the JASON Facial Sun block the morning of an 8-hour road trip to a family party where the temperature was predicted to reach a high of 104 degrees. I applied it to my face and neck, and then applied a thin layer of foundation where needed over that (and then a little blush). (Guys - if you're reading this, skip the blush!) I arrived at my destination in the middle of the night, went straight to bed and then got up the next morning early to help set up the for the party. I realized around noon, once everyone started arriving, that I wasn't going to have time to take a shower that day and the temperature was nearing the 90's. I'd been in and out of the sun all morning and would continue to be for most of the day. I'm happy to report that having the sunscreen on for a full 36 hours or so in hot weather and partial sun without getting to wash my face that whole time did not leave my skin oily and my face didn't get sunburned. If I don't wear sun block, I instantly get freckles over my upper lip; that's how I know I've forgotten t to use sunscreen or if the sunscreen wore off. I didn't get any freckles over my upper lip, and I didn't break out in my oily zone. Bonus! Jason claims that this product is "ideal for sensitive skin. Although I don't have sensitive skin, the magic ingredients (sea kelp, aloe, evening primrose oil) in it that make it a good choice for sensitive skin may be what allowed me to wear it for so long without causing me to break out. Eco Creds: Paraben- and chemical-free, made in the USA. Bottom Line: I will definitely continue using the JASON Facial Sun block every day for the rest of the summer (I'm wearing it right now, in fact) because it's an ideal natural product that actually does what it says it will do - protect my skin from the sun. It's also very moisturizing, so those with dry skin will love how it makes your face feel! --N.S. (Aug 09) Price: $10.49 / 4.5 oz, on sale at Amazon Manufacturer's Site: www.jason-natural.com |
