Injinji Eco Series Socks : Check out the New Bamboo

Back in the 70s I had knee-high rainbow-striped toe socks. Faaaar out!

Now, thanks to Injinji, toe socks are back, and they're not just for girls. Guys wear them, women wear them, runners wear them, hikers wear them, and I'm wearing them. All over town. In my EcoSneaks, in my Birks (I live in Seattle; I can do granola), and in my walkin' shoes.

When I first unwrapped my Injinji toe socks they looked like soft, elegant gloves--except with much shorter fingers. Slipping them onto my feet was no trouble. Like a riding a bike, fitting my toes quickly into each cozy sleeve is a skill that one never loses.

Aside from the aesthetics of a gloved foot, the Injinji Eco NuBamboo socks have a special place on my sock rotation because I like the feeling have having my entire foot covered in the soft, supportive fabric. The seamless design (along with the five-toe style) prevents blisters, and a special weave around the middle of the sock and around the ankles keep my socks snug. The Eco sock also has a well-defined heel cup. These socks fit like a second skin without ever binding or leaving elastic marks on my lower legs. Essential.

The Nubamboo socks are made out of 70% bamboo fiber, 25% nylon, and 5% Lycra. Since bamboo is naturally antibacterial and does a great job of breathing and wicking away moisture, my feet stay dry. Sometimes I wear these socks for several days without washing them. Sounds gross, but my rule is, if they don't have dirt on them or they don't smell, they don't need washing. After three days, they go in the wash whether they need it or not!

Unisex sizing: S-XL. Available in crew and quarter styles. Injinji also makes a crew and quarter style Eco Series sock in organic cotton.

Bottom Line: These cool foot gloves will make your feet happy (and look cute).-- E.D. (Feb 09)
