Ibex 1920 Print T : Travel Light

My first thought when I saw Ibex's 1920 Print T: " I want it." Second thought: "Cool, it's made out of only two pieces of fabric." Third thought: "It comes in purple!!!"

This fun merino wool T is another year-round staple in my wardrobe. In cooler weather, I wear it under a button-down shirt or thin jacket. Now, I wear it alone with shorts or a skirt. Like all of Ibex's casual tops, the fit is true, the wool is thin and soft, and I can wear it with anything for almost any occasion.

I like the contrast stitching and the small designs along the top's hem and at the opposite shoulder; both give the shirt a fun, uptown feel. I also like the simple construction; it appears that no material was wasted! (So, the neckline has a thin stitched-in edging, but the rest of the top is piece on piece.) Most of all, I love the dark purple color. It's truly one of the deepest purples I've seen yet in a wool garment.

Although I try to keep my merino tops divided into two categories, work (as in hiking or working out) and play (as in casual wear for day or night), there's a lot of blurring lines with this top. I love the scoop neckline and capped-length sleeve, as well as the breathing and odor-resistant qualities of wool, so I often don't want to change tops just because I want to go for a short hike, take a break from working for a yoga practice, or end my day with a full-on power walk.

Of course, a top so versatile (and cute) is ideal for travel. It works well in a range of temps, and it doesn't need washing very often.

Bottom Line: Another fun and function merino top from one of my favorite companies. It might seem like a lot to pay for a simple top, but a good merino top is better than having 3 or 4 cotton tops that get and stay wet from sweat, take up more space in a suitcase, and fade after several washings. --E.D.
