Horny Toad Hayes Overshirt

Just in time for my summer vacation I discovered Horny Toad's Hayes Overshirt. What a find!

Made out of organic cotton that's both lightweight and durable, this semi-fitted shirt-jacket is a fashionable blend of jean jacket, canvas work jacket, and a blouse.

The paneled construction--just like a jean jacket--gives the top an edgy confidence. The big buttons, cuffs, and front pockets make the shirt seem roomy like a jacket. Finally, the narrow collar, longish cut, and lightweight fabric remind me of my favorite form-fitting urban tops. The Hayes Overshirt also has two small chest pockets, one that's sealed and has it's opening inside the shirt (I love secret pockets). Cool.

The material is slightly heavier than a lightweight blouse but thinner than denim.. It's the perfect in-between fabric. It's also designed for casual wear, but doesn't look frumpy. Like.

The Hayes Overshirt was just what I needed for two weeks in Minnesota, where the weather is blazing hot outside and refrigerator cool on the inside. I have to carry a long-sleeve top with me wherever I go because the change in temperature can be uncomfortable. I really enjoyed wearing the Hayes Overshirt because it felt a bit more feminine than a jacket, but not quite as delicate as a blouse. I wore it with shorts, with pants, and with skirts. I love the washed-out black color of the top I tested.

It's been washed many times and gets better looking with age.
