Flatterware Collapsible Cup : Drinks On The Go

If the collapsible cup hall of fame is ever built, I imagine it'll have two wings.

The larger wing will be filled with novelty collapsible cups, like the leaky and unusable red telescopic cup I remember winning at my elementary school carnival by tossing a ping pong ball into a fishbowl.  The smaller wing will house the collapsible cups that are actually useable. Like my Flatterware Collapsible Cup.

Right out of the packaging my collapsible cup wanted to stay collapsed. I followed the one instruction on the packaging and washed it in hot soapy water to "activate the cup's spring memory."   It worked.   Now it pops open and stays up no problem.    

I believe the intended purpose of this cup is for travel, but I've been using it more for picnic lunches at the park, beach, or while out hiking.   One half of the carrying/storage case doubles as a base which makes the cup stable enough to set on grass, a log, a rock, or other uneven surfaces.   

The other thing that makes this cup a world different from my former carnival cup is that it's large enough to be used by (and useful to) an adult.   It's volume is similar to an average coffee cup. It's a bit taller and thinner but it fits nicely in my hand. I also like that the cup is made out of a single piece of material so that the possibility of it developing a leak is low.

Bottom Line: A clever and simple design make this a practical product that allows me to pack into any bag and to have my own drinking cup wherever I go.--A.S. (May 09)
