Eton Solar Radio/Flashlight/Cell Phone Charger : For Home or Travel Emergencies
When the power went out in my neighborhood the other night I was ticked off because I was in the middle of watching my favorite program. Then I remembered my Eton emergency box, and took charge of the situation. I hadn't charged the cute red radio/flashlight in days, but the flashlight worked just fine. I made my way through the dark hallways of my condo (some of the emergency lights weren't working!) to my neighbors, where I promptly showed them the flashlight's red flashing strobe mode (in case we got trapped in the condo and had to send a message out the window) and turned on the emergency radio. It was so simple to find the 24/7 radio weather channel (AM/FM/NOAA available), and I didn't even need to extend the antennae. This adorable box looks like a radio, but has a solar panel smartly placed on the top of the handle. So I store it on a shelf that gets sunlight during the day. The panel powers a replaceable internal battery. I can also use three "AAA" batteries (I have rechargeable AAA's and several chargers). The Eton has a hand crank, too, so I can always use elbow grease if I'm in a tight spot. It's a super handy gadget for home use, for campers, for travelers, or for anyone who's away from home. I can use headphones to keep the dire weather reports to myself if I want to, and I can charge my cell phone from this box using a USB plug. It also has a digital clock, and an alarm. Eco Creds: solar powered!!!! Bottom Line: How lucky for me that I had an "event" in which to test my Eton flashlight/radio/cell phone charger so soon after receiving it. I'll make sure to always pack it in the car when go hiking.--E.D. (Aug 09) Buy Online : $50.00, ($49.85 at Magellan's) Manufacturer's Site: www.etoncorp.com |
