Duracell Mini Battery Charger : The Eco Copper Top

I don't know about you, but every time one of my flashlights conks and I have to throw away a battery, I feel awful. Batteries contain icky stuff that's bad for the environment. Still, with so many household and travel gadgets running on AA and AAA batteries, what's an eco-conscious gal to do?

Easy. Buy rechargeable batteries and battery chargers. It's more money up front, but in the long run, you'll save money because you'll be reusing your batteries again and again.

I'm not that organized, but I've realized that part of keeping my gadgets ready for action at all times means I need a system. So, when I sleep, I recharge. Everything - from my laptop and iPod to my various battery chargers, gets juiced at night. During the day, while I'm working, I charge my solar-powered gadgets.

I like the Mini Charger because it's about the same size and shaped as a computer mouse. No cords to mess with; it was a fold out plug, so I can plug it into an outlet and eight hours later, have fresh batteries. I use this one for travel since it's so small and packable, and it comes with two pre-charged AA NiMH batteries. (It works with 110-240 volts, so I can use it overseas, too, with an adapter.) It charges AA or AAA. It's also designed not to overheat.
