Dahlgren Metro Sock
I finally admitted to myself that it’s time to throw out all my old cotton crew socks. They’re so old they’ve turned grey. Plus, they’re not that functional. I need socks that breathe and don’t get soggy. My new Dahlgren Metro socks are just the ticket. These lightweight socks, available in men’s and women’s styles, are perfect for every day wear. They’re thin enough to wear with work shoes, but still substantial enough that I feel like I’m wearing socks rather than nylons. Best of all, the Metro sock is designed like a hiking or athletic sock, with a flat toe seam, reinforced toe, and “grippy” zones in around the arch and ankle to keep the sock in place. I love that. The Metro socks are made out of a durable, high-performing blend of merino wool, alpaca, and ECO-Dri, Dahlgren’s patented technical fiber that helps the sock absorb, transfer, and evaporate moisture. Dahlgren uses different combinations of these fibers in various zones on the socks to maximize the wicking and breathing properties of each fiber. The result is a hard-wearing thin sock that I can wear for hours (and for days) at a time. My feet stay comfortable and dry. Because wool is naturally odor- and bacteria-resistant, I wear these socks for days without washing them and they don’t smell. Of course, I have cute feet that just aren’t that smelly, but still, it’s a useful feature when I’m traveling and want to pack light. Your feet work hard all day long. Why would you only wear quality socks for hiking and sports? Eco: merino wool is renewable resource. Available in men’s and women’s styles and sizes, in argyle or flower patterns. Sizes S-XL. Bottom Line: I’m totally sold on these attractive, easy-care socks.--E.D. (June "11) BUY ONLINE: $18.95, click for women's, click for men's. Manufacturer's Site: www.dahlgrenfootwear.com
