Cleanwell All-Natural Hand Sanitizer : Germs Be Gone

For my recent trip to Europe, I packed some natural hand sanitizer to use while traveling.

Cleanwell touts that their hand sanitizer kills 99.99% of germs naturally and that its alcohol free. That was all I needed to read in order to try it, but how would I know if it really worked?

First off, I like that Cleanwell offers a variety of bottles sizes; the one-ounce bottle passed airport security regulations and fits easily into my jacket pocket for easy access. I also like the design of the bottle because it has a lid covering the spray pump so it can't accidentally go off in my purse or bag.

I used it often while traveling through the airport and while on the plane. It has a pleasant orange-vanilla scent and smells much better than alcohol-laden hand sanitizers (it's also available in a fragrance-free formulation). Once I spray it on my hands,I just rub it in a bit and then let it dry naturally. It makes my hands feel slightly fresher and cleaner, and they smell good, too. Because it doesn't have alcohol in it, it's not as drying as the other hand sanitizers I've used. In fact, it contains aloe, which helps keep my skin soft.

I continued to use this all-natural hand sanitizer while traveling for three weeks through five countries, and I'd like to think that it worked because I didn't come home sick from our travels as some others in our group did. I have since used it at home while out and about when I couldn't wash my hands conveniently. I like the idea that it contains white tea and citrus oil for natural cleaning power and that it's not drying out my hands each time I use it. I'd much rather spray something that's made of natural and safe ingredients on my skin in order to kill germs!

Editor's Note: I'll be testing the Cleanwell sanitizing wipes soon, as well as the fragrance-free spray. Stay tuned!

Eco Creds: no alcohol, natural plant ingredients, not tested on animals, kid safe.

Bottom Line: Doctors say the best way to avoid colds and flu is to wash your hands a lot. Having a handy spray to use sure helps.--N.S. (March 10)
