Carve Designs Chamonix Wrap Hoodie : Easy Style
"Another hoodie?" my husband teased when I modeled my Carve Designs Chamonix Wrap Hoodie. "Don't you have, like, twenty of them already?" I admit I have more than my share. I love them for their comfort, their face-framing neckline, and--occasionally--for their warmth when I snug the hood around my ears. But the Chamonix is different. For one thing, it's 95 percent organic cotton (with 5 percent spandex that helps it retain its shape), so it's eco-friendly. The knit fabric is fabulously plush--thick enough that I can use it as a jacket on brisk days. What really sets it apart are the design details: The hood is lined with a contrasting color that delivers a splash of interest around my face. Blanket stitching on the large faux pocket spices up the front, while the wrap design hugs my waist and gives the Chamonix a structured look--quite unlike the shapeless, sack-style hoodies that fill my closet. Finally, a paisley design on one hip makes the back as eye-catching as the front. I didn't expect such styling from Carve, which is best known for its swimwear and surf-inspired looks. But with the Chamonix Wrap, Carve proved to me that it also excels at cool-weather casual. I've worn this hoodie on chilly fall mornings at the farmers' market and while sight-seeing in Zurich, Switzerland. I was also happy to have this smart-looking, comfy wrap during a recent trip to Denver, where I spent and afternoon browsing the collections at the Denver Art Museum. Available in sizes XS-XL. Bottom LIne: I like that this hoodie feels as easy and cozy as my favorite college sweatshirt, but its spiffy details elevate it and make it special enough for stepping-out.--K.B.
