Bridgedale Bamboo Crew Sock : Ain't No Mountain High Enough or Tropics Hot Enough

I've reviewed a lot of different products made of a myriad of materials, but I always come back to bamboo. I think it makes nature's perfect yarn, and Bridgedale has woven it into a great all-purpose sock called the Bamboo Crew.

I was wearing these socks around Colorado for a few weeks after I received them, and then I took them to the tropics, to the island of Bonaire, for another few weeks. They turned out to perform as well in cold, mountain environments as they do in equatorial heat and humidity.

In both places, I used them for running, a high intensity activity that requires socks to excel at moisture wicking. If the sock fails in Colorado, my feet get wet and freeze; if it fails in the tropics, I get swamp shoe and stinky toes. Thankfully, the Bridgedale Bamboo Crew was great in all conditions. The sock is made of a blend of bamboo and Coolmax polyester, both of which are awesome at moisture control.  It's not just the fabric that makes the sock perform so well -- there's a thin mesh weave on the top of the foot that is great for venting. Gotta love that.

There are a few other features about this sock I really liked while testing it. First, I found the cuff to be pretty sturdy, which is reassuring. I have a feeling these socks are going to last a really long time. I also liked the thick underfoot cushioning as it kept my feet happy and ache free after long days walking and running around.

Finally, I love Bridgedale's commitment to environmental protection; the company supports a campaign called Plant A Boo, which is dedicated to increasing bamboo cultivation; it's totally renewable and stores more CO2 than regular trees.
