Amy Sacks Eyewear : Eco- and Celebrity-Friendly

When my eye doctor suggested it was time for bifocals, I said, "I don't think so." Instead, I got a prescription for my near-sightedness and a prescription for reading glasses.

Then I discovered Amy Sacks Eyewear, and ditched the reading glasses prescription. Portland-based Amy Sacks has the coolest reading glasses around - elegant frames for the ladies, sophisticated frames for the men. Slim and stylish or clean and chunky, there are frames for all faces.

I had my choice of reading glasses, available in magnifications of 1.0 to 3.0, sun reading glasses, sunglasses, or or having my prescription put into a pair of AS frames. I chose the Bamboo Masa frames in orange, from the Bamboo Collection. Some pieces in the collection have acetate frames with bamboo temples, others, like the Masa Takeh (pictured top right) are entirely made of bamboo (a super sustainable resource).

I love the fit on these glasses. They stay in place, with no slipping or pinching. I don't mind knowing that I'm also in good company wearing my fancy new eco frames. Epatha Merkerson and foxy Jesse Martin, both from Law & Order, wear Amy Sacks eyewear. So does Steven Schirripa from the Sopranos, Ray Romano, and George Lopez.
