Aladdin Recycled & Recyclable Lunch Set

Until recently, my packed lunches were pretty lame because they consisted of food that wouldn't disintegrate after spending a few hours in my day pack. Then, I got organized with Aladdin's Recycled & Recyclable Lunch Set, and now I"m eating much better!

The four-container set is part of Aladdin's Sustain line, made out of recycled, BPA-free plastic, and includes a lunch bag made out of recycled materials. The containers are thick-walled, nice and deep, and totally durable, with leakproof lids.

The largest container is large enough for a big sandwich and deep enough for a lunch-sized salad. I like that. I usually use the middle container for chopped up fruit or carrot sticks. The rectangular shape make it a versatile container; it also holds a decent portion size of rice or quinoa salad. The two small containers are perfect for nuts, salad dressing, and other treats.

It may sound funny, but just having attractive food storage containers makes a difference. My food is organized and tidy, so it's that much more appealing by lunch time! Because the containers are rectangular and square shapes, they sit flat in my lunch bag and they stack easily. I also don't add to the landfills since I'm not using plastic sandwich bags anymore. I like that.

At first I found the containers a bit tricky to use. I had a little trouble getting the lids on because I needed to press them down with some force due to the sealer layer in the lid. Once I figured it out, I had an easier time. Also, sometimes the seal is so strong that the lids get stuck on, but so far I've always managed to get them open. And they have never leaked, which is key!

The surface of the containers is so smooth, so they clean up well after use (they're also dishwasher safe on the top rack). Most often I find myself using them for dinner leftovers which become my lunch the next day!

Bottom Line: I really like using this lunch set. It's effective, the containers stack well in my bag and in the fridge, and I can throw them in the dishwasher to clean.--E.D. (Feb 2011)
